/ Hawthorn Tree
Loveliest is the flower. Pink.
If there isn’t a flock of leaves bowing low
hiding deep in its bosky shadow
a canyon at dusk;
no branches, their light brown skin
grabbing mud like desire;
no wind in its green impulses of youth
drawn to moonlight like magnet;
no one walking to a halt under the tree,
their lips burn together —
