Nourished by the lands and the mists of Flanders, the artist had assimilated and transcended such origins to invent afresh an original path as of the 1970s, a path associating with the Outsider Art’s spontaneity, an imagination relating to the proliferating Surrealist tonality. And if one would find in his paintings connections and distant relations with Jérôme Bosch and James Ensor, or Jean Dubuffet, who is closer to our French sensibilities, Fryson would have certainly been the disciple of no one.
