“Since 2009 I have been living in Sligo, on the West Coast of Ireland, surrounded by gently rolling hills. The immediate pace of life is slow, but I am investigating the media-created, global metropolis we all belong to now. This collection is an outburst from my romantic imagination; I try to source the erratic, impulsive structures that jut against the skyline of an imaginary city. In the final compositions I attempt to create something larger than my visual experience by adding my emotional experience. I have tried to mesh urban shapes, city life, fog, noise, and the hustle and bustle with the feeling of streets, tensions, panic, stress and discordance that comes with career-driven ambition.” — Dominic Corrigan |
